Favorite Blushes....
It's no secret that I love Makeup - quite obvious since the basis of this blog is all about Makeup! But you may not know that I love reading about the history of Makeup. I would love to sit down and share with you the entire history of blush but that would make for one very LONG blog post...so I will share with you "The Story Behind Blush" from the Stylelist website.
Onto the best part....the Makeup!
The blushes that I am showcasing today are products that I used in my professional kit as well as for personal use. Only one of them is a high end product, the rest are all drugstore.
First up is the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush. I have 5 of these but only showing the 2 that I use the most.

This blush is a lightweight like a powder but melts into the skin like a cream. It has a bouncy gel like texture. It goes on very sheer but you can build up the color if you want it more intense.
What I love about these 2 shades is they give you a very natural flush, just your skin with a bit of a glow. In the right picture I tried to blend them out a bit and I applied a few layers so they do appear darker/brighter than they would on your cheeks but I wanted it to show up for the camera. They retail for about $7 depending on where you purchase them and they come in 10 different shades.
Next is the Milani Baked Powder Blush in Luminoso.
This is one of my all time favorite blushes! It is a powder formula but is so silky soft and is the most gorgeous color. These two pictures do not do it justice! It has the softest sheen to it and give you a gorgeous glow without appearing too sparkly. As with the Maybelline Blushes it goes on very sheer but you can build up the color to get an intense warmth. It is a drugstore item and retails for about $8. There 9 other shades so there a color for every skin tone!
Lastly is my favorite MAC Cosmetics Blush in Harmony.
Harmony is a powder blush that is described on the MAC website as a muted rose-beige brown. It has a matte finish and has a warm undertone but its not orange which is great if you want to use it as a bronzer or even as a contour color. I love this blush because it is very soft in texture and blends easily. This retails for $22 but you can also buy it as a refill pan for $17.
There you have it....I'll leave you with a quote I found while researching the history of blush from the Roman Dramatist Plautus:
"A woman without paint is like food without salt"
