Erase your face...
Bet that caught your attention! Well today's product review caught mine....
For the last month or so I had been hearing a buzz on Instagram about this new product called the Makeup Eraser. Since my interested was piqued I decided to go take a look online and see what all the hub bub was about. What I came across was a website that featured a hot pink wash cloth ~ a hot pink wash cloth that cost $19.97. I immediately thought "um, no thanks."
Then I started seeing different makeup artists actually using the product. They were removing entire faces of makeup with this wash cloth and JUST WATER. No cleanser, no makeup wipes, no soap. Just water. Hmmmm....I wanted to know more but was not ready to commit.
Amazingly enough about week ago I received an email on my Facebook page from a woman that owned a local salon and was friends with a couple my friends. She was selling these Makeup Erasers and wanted to know if I would like to try one. I thought long and hard about it....HA HA just kidding I emailed her back asap and said "yes, I would absolutely love to try one."
A few days later I was happy to meet Kim Decant, owner of Vintage: Day Spa & Salon. We chatted briefly about the Makeup Eraser as well as the acquaintances we knew. Although I had a hard time not booting her off my porch in my excitement of using this new product! Just kidding. Kind of.
The following day I did my Bride of Frankenstein look and figured it would be the perfect time to put this "eraser" to the test. I had many layers of face paint, regular makeup and even some dried blood on and I was curious to see if it would really come off that easy.
Basically the idea is get the eraser wet with some warm water, squeeze out the excess and then wipe the makeup off.
You wouldn't think by looking at it that it's anything special.
BUT IT IS!
There are two different textures - one side has a shorter thicker feel and the other is a little bit longer. It is made of 100% polyester and it's insanely soft.
I did not take any pictures that day but I did snap a few after my Masquerade Makeup from yesterday. (Please excuse the goofy faces ~ it's hard taking pictures of yourself while washing your face....)
As you can see the top three pictures are with full makeup on, the middle three is of me taking the majority of the color off, and the bottom three is just getting the last little remnants.
I should have taken a photo of what it looked like after but I am sure you can imagine. I have used the makeup eraser for a solid week. Using it for my every day makeup and for two of my more creative looks. Oh and did I mention that this cloth is reusable for up to 1,000+ washes.
1,000+...yup. Crazy.
This will remove waterproof makeup - perfect for those that wear water resistant eyeliner or mascara. Don't forget its reusable and washing machine safe. And all you need is water. No chemicals. I love that.
I found the best way to use it was to give it a really good soak with warm water. Squeeze out the excess and then gently hold it in place on whatever makeup area you are looking to remove. Then gently wipe down - always be gentle around the eyes. That was the ONE thing that I didn't like. It was a bit hard to get right up close to my lash line without really scrubbing hard. But all in all it really does an amazing job of getting all the makeup off.
I can't tell you how much money I have spent in makeup wipes, cleansers, removers. Much more than $19.97 for sure. I actually may purchase another one so that while one is in the wash I will have a back up.
If you are interested in purchasing a Makeup Eraser you can go directly to Kim's website, click HERE... or you can visit Vintage Day Spa & Salon as she carries them in the salon. So if you are a makeup lover like me and hate the mess of using wipes or liquid makeup remover than please get in touch with Kim and give the Makeup Eraser a try! And let me know if you decide to give it a go - would love to know what you think of it!
