A lesson learned...
A good friend of mine's daughter was preparing to head off to college and had inquired about having a private one-on-one makeup session. Ummmm.....of course!!!
Cathryn was leaving for college to pursue her nursing degree and wanted to learn how to do a quick but still pretty 5 minute face, as well as how to go from day to night look. We set up shop in my dining room and I handed her the mirror as she watched me do one side and then she did the other side. We used all of Cathryn's own makeup; Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette & Stila's In The Light Palette, mascara, a BB Cream, and 3 of her own brushes.
We started off using a BB Cream to even out her skin. We started off with the Urban Decay palette since those colors are all matte - perfect for a soft daytime look. We patted a skin tone matte color over the entire lid blending up to the brown bone.
Next we took one of a light brown from the Palette and ran that along her lash line on top and bottom. We finished the eyes with two coats of mascara. We applied her blush on the apples of the cheeks and finished with a light pink gloss on the lips.
Here is a pic of her finished daytime look...
Next we moved onto the evening look. Cathryn does not often wear makeup so even though she wanted to learn how to do more nighttime related look we still kept it fairly soft. One so that she still felt she could do it and two that she would still feel like she looked like herself.
We tried out the Stila In The Light Palette this time and used a shimmery champagne color for the lid and blended that into the crease. Next we took a coppery brown and ran that along the top and bottom lash line as before....to increase the color we just kept lightly layering the brown along the lash lines until she felt it was dark enough. We dusted a touch more blush on the cheeks blending out toward the ears and this time gave the lips a pretty peachy nude gloss.
I couldn't help but sneak this one in of the other makeup junkie of the house. :)
It was a great session and Cathryn looked gorgeous! I really enjoyed doing this and if anybody is interested in having a one-on-one private session please feel free to contact me to set it up!
