Review ~ Gerard Cosmetics & Jaclyn's Babies....
Finishing up this week with one more share of some new goodies I purchased recently. This review is about Gerard Cosmetics, specifically a set they call "Jaclyn's Babies." Jaclyn being the Jaclyn Hill from YouTube. Jaclyn is an amazing makeup artist and did a collaboration with Gerard Cosmetics to create some lip products in shades that she loves. One of Jaclyn's trademark looks is a gorgeous smokey eye with a pinky-peach nude lip. Gerard Cosmetics & Jaclyn did a great job of making a set that was perfect for almost any look!
"Jaclyn's Babies" is a trio of two lip glosses and one lipstick. Pictured here is Butter Cream Lip Gloss, 1995 Lipstick and Rose Hill Lip Gloss. The trio retails for $42.00...
If you were to purchase the Glosses individually they retail for $24.00 and the lipstick is $19.00 - so $42.00 for all three is a pretty good deal! And if you check out her Youtube channel she often runs coupon codes.
The lip glosses are interesting because when you twist open the cap a little tiny light comes on and there is a mirror on one side of the gloss. The idea is that you can "color your smile" at any time. To be honest I could live without the light. I have applied it a couple of times during the day and I feel like the light just makes me mouth look weird, but this might be helpful if I am out for dinner or something and don't have access to a light and want to touch up.
The texture of the gloss is very creamy and if you apply to heavy it can become a bit goopy. The colors are very pigmented ~ Butter Cream is a soft pink nude and Rose Hill is bright rose. Both colors show up on my skin as being a bit pinker than I thought they would. But I love that they layer nicely with other lip products, whether that be a lip liner or a lipstick.
My favorite of the trio is the 1995 lipstick! The texture is soft and sets to almost a matte finish. Not quite a satin but not a full matte. The color is gorgeous ~ I would say it's kind of a cross between a nude and brown. It's a great every day color but you could also layer this with a dark lip liner and really get more of a "grungy" look. Or layer it with a lighter lip gloss and you have a pretty nude every day lip. My one complaint is that the packaging feels a little cheap. It is a pretty gold finish but it feels a bit like plastic. If I am paying $19 for a lipstick I want the packaging to be sturdy!
Here is a color swatch of all three. The left photo is without flash and the right is with flash.
And here is a picture of me wearing all three...
There are quite a few lip products & shades that I have looked at on the website and would definitely purchase from Gerard Cosmetics again. They also offer some brow products and a BB Illumination Cream that has piqued my interest.
Overall Rating: 8 out of 10
Repurchase Probability: 70% of me purchasing these products again.
Pros: I love how creamy and pigmented the glosses & lipstick are.
Cons: I don't really care for the light on the lip gloss and the packaging on the lipstick.
